If the Lord of Hosts had not left us offspring, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah.
The hard questions of the character of God are simply backwards. It is not: “How could a loving God wipe out entire cities?”
But how could God — the artist of all — allow me to still exist?
After all I have done? My sin is like a black smear of paint on the canvas of a masterpiece, and yet He chooses to use me as part of the final product.
And…not only can He bear us, but the King is enthralled by our beauty (psalm 45.11). How?
Because He is a loving God.
